I have to say though, this tradition with a two yr old is quite different. It's so fun, and memorable, but it's also quite frustrating. For one, Maile knows exactly what we were doing. Mikael got out the christmas lights, and Maile proceeded to drag them across the living room floor, and put them on the tree. AWWWW.. unfortunately they were still in a big tangled mess, and pulled everything else with them as well. RAAWWRRR!
She also loved to hang ornaments on the tree, she was so excited to see what ornament was next, and she's run over to the tree and put it on the branch. AAWWWW! Unfortunatley if the ornament didn't go on the first time she'd throw it on the floor, and run back for the next. We only broke one, but it was an older one ;(. RAWWRRRR!
Maile was so excited about everything too and wanted to touch and explore it, especially the things we didn't want her to touch. Everything was new, and bright ,and shiny to her and so fun to look at and touch. AAAWWW, Unfortunately she wouldn't stop touching, even when we said no and no and no again. RAAWWRR!!
Overall though it was a cool night, a little frustrating at times, but what event isn't with a toddler. The most important part is that we were all together, and enjoyed having that moment. I'm excited for the rest of the holiday season. Parades of Lights, Zoo Lights, Xmas parties & of course the baking :) . It's going to be so much fun and a whole new world for Maile.
Here's a couple pictures from tonight.
