Then Friday we all went to the pool, when we got there, we chose our seats and then let the kids do their thing. Maile tried out one area of the pool then another, then another, and finally settled on a spot on a corner by the fountains. Pretty perfect spot, we all had a great time watching the kids play. Conor had just finished his swimming lessons so he was practicing all he learned. Maile just was splashing and playing with a hippo Grandma Day had givin her. She was in heaven.
I ended up going on the slide too, and it was super fun, until we got down to the bottom and we plunged into the water, and instead of my feet coming off the inner tube, my pinky toe got frightened and held on for dear life. Obviously that didn't turn out well, and we had to cut our pool day short, and exchange it for a trip to the ER... with a broken toe.. OUCH!!!
It wasn't too bad, they taped it back, gave me a very stylish boot, and some drugs, and sent me on my way. We were back in time for date night. Grandma, Grandpa and Bri agreed to watch Maile for the night, while we treated ourselves to a night out. It was quite enjoyable even with a broken toe. We went to dinner, and a movie, and it was fantastic! Thanks Mom and Dad, and Bri too :)
The next day we did some more shopping, and then we went to a dusk release of some air balloons.. super pretty, and Maile was so amazed. Her mouth was stuck open. They did a fireworks display afterwards too which was pretty cool. I love Iowa fields they are so green, and lush and neverending, they are huge!

We left the next morning, and on the way home we had a slight detour through Republican City to see Grandma's old house.

This is the lake in Republican City, just a couple years ago it had receding quite a bit, and now it's full, and busy again. It was a huge difference. Beautiful!
There's a ton more pictures I didin't post, but I created a site you can see them, off to the right over there. Called Iowa Road Trip 09. Enjoy!
